Favetta (Vicia faba)

This horse bean is a fairly modest broad bean which has been cultivated for centuries. It is a small-seeded and much older form of the fava bean and is only of regional importance as a vegetable plant today. It was known as an element of “peas and beans” in medieval crop rotation. Heirloom variety.
